Focus Group: Quantum Computing Technologies

Full-time / Part-time options available | Hagenberg, Austria (Hybrid)

Drive the Next Generation of Quantum Technologies

At SCCH, we believe that groundbreaking scientific innovation thrives on diverse perspectives. We are expanding our Quantum Focus Group and are looking for an experienced, collaborative researcher to bridge the gap between quantum theory and industrial reality.

If you already hold a PhD and are looking for an environment where you can lead innovative projects, collaborate with leading industry, and push the boundaries of applied quantum science, you belong here.

Your Impact & Tasks

As an established researcher in our dynamic team, you will take ownership of advanced projects and drive real-world impact through the following responsibilities:

  • Innovate: Lead research and development of cutting-edge quantum computing technologies tailored for industrial applications.
  • Build: Design and implement complex methods, algorithms, and tools for quantum modeling and simulation.
  • Connect: Build strong relationships and collaborate closely with leading industrial partners and international scientific consortia.
  • Share: Publish your findings in high-impact journals and present your work at prestigious international conferences and scientific meetings.

What You Bring to the Team

We value deep expertise combined with a collaborative spirit. If you are passionate about translating quantum theory into practical, industrial applications, we want to meet you!

The Essentials

  • Collaboration: You enjoy mentoring junior researchers (including PhD candidates) and engaging in active team brainstorming just as much as independent research.
  • Education: A PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field (with a focus on quantum technologies).
  • Knowledge: A strong, proven understanding of Quantum Computing and/or Quantum Information Science.
  • Languages: Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken); German is a welcome bonus but not a requirement.

Skills that will help you thrive

Proven experience or deep expertise in one or several of the following areas:

  • Quantum computing platforms & algorithm development
  • High-Performance Computing (HPC) & simulation
  • Software engineering & machine learning
  • An Entrepreneurial Mindset: You are excited by the prospect of commercializing research. We actively support scientists who want to bridge academia and business, offering pathways to develop spin-offs based on the IP and technologies you help build here.

What We Offer

  • Research Freedom & Growth: The opportunity to shape your own research agenda, lead projects, and mentor the next generation of quantum scientists.
  • True Flexibility: Flexitime with no core hours and a highly adaptable hybrid/home-office policy designed to seamlessly fit your personal life and responsibilities.
  • An Inspiring Environment: A creative, international team working with state-of-the-art methods alongside top-tier European research institutes.
  • A Culture of Belonging: Regular team events, a welcoming and modern working atmosphere, and a team that genuinely values equal opportunity across all genders and nationalities.
  • A competitive salary: The monthly salary is 4932.90 EUR, paid 14 times per year for full-time employment.

Ready to shape the future of quantum computing with us?

We look forward to receiving your application! Please send your documents (CV and letter of motivation) to jobs@scch.at. If you have any questions regarding our projects, research freedom, or flexible working models, please feel free to reach out.
