Pro²Future – Cognitive and Sustainable Products and Production Systems of the Future - is an industry-related COMET K1 research Centre in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and cognitive / industrial ICT, human-machine-interaction (HMI) and data-driven process optimization with a focus on cognitive and sustainable products and production systems. Senior Researcher (m/w/d) within the Area Cognitive Production Systems
Full-time (38,5 hours/week), at Pro2Future GmbH in Graz (Campus of TU Graz)
Project context
Cognitive Production Systems and Cognitive Products represent those research areas of Pro²Future in which application-driven integration takes place. In these two areas, the research results of Areas Prediction, Orchestration and Analytics are consolidated and transferred to industry and business in the form of inte- grated solutions. The Area Cognitive Production Systems focuses on both continuous production processes in plastics processing (at the Linz site) and batch production for manufacturing and assembly processes (at the Graz site). A central element in Pro²Future’s understanding of Cognitive Production Systems are their contributions to sustainability, resource efficiency, and human centeredness.
Job profile
Under the guidance of the Area Management, the candidate will be deployed in the entire portfolio of application-oriented research projects in the research area. Based on his or her in-depth knowledge and expertise in production (e.g. manufacturing, assembly, 3D printing) with interests in digitalization, sustain- ability and human centeredness, he or she will successfully support the researchers in realizing the project objectives. Previous experience in industry or indus- try-related projects enables the candidate to fully understand, communicate and manage the requirements set by industry in the research projects.
Your qualifications
• PhD degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science or similar
• Deep knowledge of Artificial Intelligence principles and advanced machine learning algorithms
• Proven expertise in Neural Networks (e.g., CNNs, RNNs, Transformers) and modern deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch)
• Strong programming skills, particularly in Python and relevant AI/data science libraries (e.g., Pandas, Scikit-learn, NumPy)
• High affinity for applied research, interest in shaping future technologies
• Proven track record in funding acquisition, including the identification of research opportunities and taking a leading role in writing compelling research proposals.
• Proven experience in publishing scientific findings in high-impact journals and presenting at international conferences.
• Fluent in English or German (written and spoken)
• Willingness to travel occasionally between the Pro2Future GmbH locations and to our partners within Austria
