within the topic “AI-driven Analytics“

Project context 

In the Analytics research area, we investigate computer-aided decision-making by developing advanced analysis and AI methods that support monitoring of pro-
duction processes, predicting undesirable system states, and enabling preventive, unobtrusive corrective actions. Our research focuses on computational data 
analysis and visual data science, combining algorithmic approaches with interactive visualizations to transform complex datasets into actionable insights. This 
approach facilitates data-driven decision-making by revealing patterns, trends, and correlations that are often hidden in large-scale data. To achieve these goals, 
we employ a variety of computational techniques such as machine learning and deep learning for predictive modeling and anomaly detection, statistical analysis 
for robust inference, and advanced visualization methods to enhance interpretability and support human-in-the-loop decision-making. Ultimately, our aim is to 
convert raw data into meaningful knowledge that improves efficiency, reliability, and innovation in production environments. 

Job profile 
We are looking for a highly motivated Ph.D. Researcher who will contribute to the full portfolio of application-oriented research projects within the area super-
vised by the Area Management. Leveraging strong expertise in machine and deep learning, visualization, and programming languages, the candidate will provide 
effective research contributions to achieve project objectives. Prior experience in industry or industry-related projects ensures the candidate can fully under-
stand, communicate, and manage the requirements set by industrial partners, thereby bridging the gap between research and practical application. 
 
Your qualifications 
 • University degree in computer science, computer engineering, mathematics or similar 
 • Experience and practical knowledge of programming languages and tools (e.g., Python, JavaScript, React, Pandas, TypeScript, Docker) 
 • Experience and practical knowledge in Machine- and Deep Learning 
 • Interest in Large Language Models is not a prerequisite, but is appreciated 
 • Independent and reliable way of working, enjoy working in a team 
 • Fluent in English and German 
 • Willingness to travel between the Pro2Future GmbH locations 
 • Flexibility, willingness to learn, openness and commitment

within the topic “AI-driven Software Instrumentation“ 

Full-time (38,5 hours/week), at Pro2Future GmbH in Linz (Campus of Johannes Kepler University Linz) 
 

Project context 

The project InstrumentAI, conducted in collaboration with industry, addresses the growing challenge of maintaining application observability in today’s rapidly 
evolving software landscape. As new technologies, frameworks, and libraries emerge at an accelerating pace, each requires precise and efficient instrumentation 
to ensure effective performance monitoring. The goal of InstrumentAI is to develop AI-supported methods that streamline and accelerate the instrumentation 
process for both entirely new technologies and extensions of existing ones. The project focuses on identifying relevant instrumentation points in new or evolving 
technologies and generating or extending instrumentation code and corresponding tests in a partially automated process under human supervision. The ex-
pected outcome is a prototype pipeline that supports the complete instrumentation workflow, from detection and code generation to automated testing, along 
with AI-driven tools that demonstrate the feasibility and practical applicability of the approach in real-world software environments. 

Job profile 

Under the guidance of the Area Management, the candidate will be deployed in the entire portfolio of application-oriented research activities within the 
InstrumentAI project, conducted in collaboration with industry. The position focuses on the development of AI-supported and human-in-the-loop methods for 
automating and optimizing software instrumentation processes. Drawing on a strong background in software engineering, data analytics, and machine learning, 
the candidate will support the research team in designing, implementing, and evaluating prototype solutions that identify instrumentation points and generate 
and extend instrumentation code and tests. Within the scope of the project, the candidate is also expected to pursue a PhD under the supervision of Univ.-Prof. 
Dr. Alexander Egyed and a. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Paul Grünbacher at the Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU). 

Your qualifications 

• University degree in computer science, computer engineering, or similar 

• Experience and practical knowledge of programming languages and tools (e.g. Python, Java, etc.) 

• Knowledge in Software Engineering, AI, machine learning is an advantage 

• Experience with software observability or instrumentation is highly valued 

• High affinity for applied research, interest in shaping future technologies

Senior Researcher (m/w/d) 
within the Area Cognitive Production Systems 

Full-time (38,5 hours/week), at Pro2Future GmbH in Graz (Campus of TU Graz) 
 

Project context 

Cognitive Production Systems and Cognitive Products represent those research areas of Pro²Future in which application-driven integration takes place. In these 
two areas, the research results of Areas Prediction, Orchestration and Analytics are consolidated and transferred to industry and business in the form of inte-
grated solutions. The Area Cognitive Production Systems focuses on both continuous production processes in plastics processing (at the Linz site) and batch 
production for manufacturing and assembly processes (at the Graz site). A central element in Pro²Future’s understanding of Cognitive Production Systems are 
their contributions to sustainability, resource efficiency, and human centeredness. 

Job profile 

Under the guidance of the Area Management, the candidate will be deployed in the entire portfolio of application-oriented research projects in the research 
area. Based on his or her in-depth knowledge and expertise in production (e.g. manufacturing, assembly, 3D printing) with interests in digitalization, sustain-
ability and human centeredness, he or she will successfully support the researchers in realizing the project objectives. Previous experience in industry or indus-
try-related projects enables the candidate to fully understand, communicate and manage the requirements set by industry in the research projects. 


Your qualifications 

• PhD degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science or similar 

• Deep knowledge of Artificial Intelligence principles and advanced machine learning algorithms 

• Proven expertise in Neural Networks (e.g., CNNs, RNNs, Transformers) and modern deep learning frameworks 
(e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) 

• Strong programming skills, particularly in Python and relevant AI/data science libraries (e.g., Pandas, Scikit-learn, NumPy) 

• High affinity for applied research, interest in shaping future technologies 

• Proven track record in funding acquisition, including the identification of research opportunities and taking a leading 
role in writing compelling research proposals. 

• Proven experience in publishing scientific findings in high-impact journals and presenting at international conferences. 

• Fluent in English or German (written and spoken) 

• Willingness to travel occasionally between the Pro2Future GmbH locations and to our partners within Austria
